Digieffects Launches Atmosphere Plugin for After Effects
Simulate atmospheric conditions such as haze and fog in your composition.

Wilmington, NC - January 19, 2010

Digieffects® a developer of visual effects software plugins, today announced that Atmosphere is available for purchase. The Atmosphere plugin for After Effects simulates atmospheric conditions such as haze and fog in your composition.

Layers further away from the camera appear to be more deeply immersed in the haze/fog than layers closer to the camera. This also applies to parts of layers: If part of a layer is near the camera and part of it is faraway, the pixels near the camera will appear less immersed in the haze/fog than the pixels far away from the camera. You can simulate very realistic or very unrealistic types of atmospheric effects using the Atmosphere plugin.

According to Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects, "With Atmosphere we’re continuing our commitment to quality you can afford. Priced at only $49, Atmosphere simulates atmospheric conditions like fog and haze in a realistic, convincing manner."

Mark Christiansen, author of The After Effects Studio Techniques books, and industry veteran who has worked on several feature films including Avatar, comments "Atmospheric haze is part of life on planet Earth. Keeping track of it in a scene is a big chore. Mother Nature is always up to the task, but if left on your own recreating her effects on 3D layers in After Effects, you’ll have an easier time with Atmosphere."

Pricing and Availability
Atmosphere is available immediately from Digieffects and its resellers for $49.

Digieffects Launches Falloff Lighting Plugin for After Effects
Provides enhanced lighting for After Effects' built-in lights

Wilmington, NC - November 03, 2009

Digieffects® a developer of visual effects software plugins, today announced that Falloff Lighting is available for purchase. Falloff Lighting provides enhanced lighting for After Effects’ built-in lights. Falloff Lighting is much more like that of the real world where light naturally decays or “falls off” as surfaces increasedistance from the After Effects light.

According to Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects, "Falloff Lighting is a great complement to After Effects' built-in lighting system. With After Effects it doesn’t matter how far away a layer is from a light, it is still illuminated the same amount by that light. However, if you use Falloff Lighting, objects will appear dimmer the further away they are from the lights illuminating them.

Features & Benefits

  • Offers the control and flexibility you need to properly light your scene.
  • Offers a key feature missing in After Effects.
  • Displays the distance from the camera to the corners of the layers.
  • Adjust the distance scale to account for the scale of objects in your scene.
  • Control the intensity of light reflecting off an object and the gradual falloff as the distance from the light increases.
  • All effects are rendered in 32bpc.
  • Only $49.

Pricing and Availability
Falloff Lighting is available immediately from Digieffects and its resellers for $49.

Professional Level Functionality at Breakthrough Pricing

Wilmington, NC - October 05, 2009

Digieffects, a developer of popular visual effects software plugins, today announced that Aged Film is available for purchase. Aged Film creates an aged "old movie look", an effect which helps viewers understand what era the shot is set in and believe that the story is set in the past. Aged Film supports Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Grass Valley EDIUS (requires the After Effects bridge), Autodesk Combustion and Boris RED.

According to Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects, "We priced Aged Film at only $29 because we're offering it as an ‘a la carte’ plugin. Even though Aged Film is only $29 we haven’t sacrificed anything - you still get all the quality, speed and functionality that all the big-time Hollywood pros get."

Features & Benefits

  • New host support: Grass Valley EDIUS*
  • Supports a wide range of other host applications including Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Combustion, and Boris RED.
  • Includes the ability to customize characteristics such as grain, dust, scratches, frame jitter and color and all those little details that tell the viewer that they're looking at historical footage.
  • The ability to deinterlace and control source blend and random seed.
  • All effects are rendered in 16bpc.
  • All Aged Film effects can be animated over time in After Effects.
  • Includes dozens of presets such as 8mm, armageddon, grandpa’s attic, old home video, scratched film, shaky projector, speakeasy, the 70s and much more.
  • Fast rendering.
  • Volume discounts and floating site licenses available for multiple installations (limited or unlimited users).
  • At $29, it’s much cheaper than a time machine. Safer too.

Digieffects Launches Camera Mapper Plugin for After Effects
Developed in Close Collaboration with VFX Industry Guru Mark Christiansen

Wilmington, NC - September 10, 2009

Digieffects®, a developer of popular visual effects software plugins, today announced that Camera Mapper is available for purchase. Camera Mapper, a plugin for Adobe After Effects, allows you to simulate a 3D scene from 2D stills or footage. It allows you to isolate one or several objects in your footage, project these objects on a separate layer and pull that layer out of the background, creating the visual illusion of the object floating in front of the original footage.

According to Robert Sharp, President of Digieffects "camera mapping is a key part of compositing applications such as Nuke, and while you could do this natively in After Effects, it would be only at the expense of some complicated workarounds that cost time and lack important capabilities."

Camera Mapper was developed in close collaboration with Mark Christiansen, author of The After Effects Studio Techniques books, and industry veteran who has worked on several feature films including Avatar, Pirates 3, All About Evil and The Day After Tomorrow.

According to Robert Sharp, President of Digieffects, "Mark has added a tremendous amount of value to the Camera Mapper development cycle. He brings a true 'users' perspective and the end result is an After Effects plugin that is highly valuable and usable."

Mark Christiansen comments that "Camera Mapper provides an elegant solution to a vexing problem in After Effects; the alternative for mapping a scene to 3D geometry is complicated enough that it has occupied several pages of each edition of my After Effects books."

Camera Mapper Key Features

  • Realistically create the illusion that a still image is fully dimensional moving footage.
  • Subtly change the perspective of a shot, or animate it over time.
  • Can be combined with 3D tracking to add or alter elements in a scene.
  • Now you can step back in time and get another chance to move the camera.
  • Allows you to stay in After Effects when working with fully dimensional models, rather than jumping into an expensive and complex 3D application.

Bundle Available with Red Giant Software PlaneSpace
The Camera Mapper/PlaneSpace bundle is only $229, a $49 savings if customers were to purchase the two software packages independently. PlaneSpace, developed by Red Giant Software, allows you to arrange and animate 3D layers easily. PlaneSpace eliminates the tedious task of managing the individual layers in multi-layer effects and automatically creates layers that form cubic, cylindrical, and spheroid shapes or complex matrices. Together, Camera Mapper and PlaneSpace are the perfect bundle for simulating a 3D scene from 2D footage right in After Effects.

Pricing and Availability
Camera Mapper represents a true breakthrough in pricing. At $79 it is affordable to even the most stretched budget. However, it offers the quality, speed and creativity that high-end plugins provide. Camera Mapper is available directly from Digieffects as well as its distributor and reseller partners. The plugin is compatible with Adobe After Effects 7, CS3 and CS4 and runs on Mac PPC, Mac Intel, and Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems.

Digieffects® launches FreeForm AE at NAB 2009
3D Mesh Warping Plugin Brings High-End Functionality to After Effects

Wilmington, NC - May 04, 2009

Digieffects®, a developer of popular visual effects software plugins, today announced that FreeForm AE is available for purchase. FreeForm AE, a plugin for Adobe After Effects, is an intuitive and robust warping tool that allows users to manipulate a flat object into almost any shape using a mesh in 3D space. This new product takes After Effects 3D compositing to the next level.

Features and Benefits

  • 3D Functionality: The same power and control of 3D applications right inside After Effects.
  • Control: All controls for manipulation are right inside the After Effects comp window.
  • Speed: Powered by a proprietary, full 3D rendering engine to provide beautiful, high-quality renders fast.
  • Never leave After Effects:Makes it easy to create 3D effects which previously required a dedicated 3D program or high-end workstation.
  • Depth, Dimensions, and Displacement: True 3D displacement mapping.
  • Picks up where After Effects ends: Bend, twist, distort, shape layers right in the After Effects comp window.

According to Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects, “FreeForm AE was originally developed by Chris Bobotis of Mettle in Montreal, Canada. Chris was frustrated that 3D mesh warping was only available in expensive, high-end systems like Autodesk Flame. He felt it was time somebody made this available in After Effects.”

According to Mark Christiansen, author of After Effects CS4 Visual Effects & Compositing Studio Techniques, "FreeForm AE offers After Effects a huge feature that used to push artists to other systems; no longer must a job go to Flame for what Autodesk calls ‘extended bicubics.’ The result is fully integrated with After Effects own 3D camera and lighting system. How cool is that, integrating curved 3D planes into After Effects?"

Pricing and Availability

FreeForm AE, affordably priced at $299, is available directly from Digieffects as well as its distributor and reseller partners. FreeForm AE is compatible with Adobe After Effects CS3 and CS4 and runs on Mac PPC, Mac Intel, and Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems.

Digieffects™ Ships Damage
Collection of four effects for sabotaging your creativity.

Wilmington, NC - March 19, 2008

Digieffects, a developer of popular visual effects software plugins today announced that it shipped Damage, a new set of plugins for video and film post production professionals.

Digieffects Damage is a collection of four effects designed for post production professionals who want to create an extensive variety of digital and/or analog defects, errors and artifacts in their footage.  It supports Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Autodesk Combustion and Boris RED.

“We designed the Damage package to be the most comprehensive set of tools for creating images that look affected by digital or analog artifacts available.” said Digieffects President, Robert Sharp.  According to Sharp, Damage is a unique product in the marketplace.
No other plugin collection is dedicated to “damaging” a video clip”.  Damage includes the following effects:

Blockade:  Video acquired by low fidelity devices like cellular phones and PDAs is becoming more commonplace.  Blockade makes your clip look like it is highly compressed and being transmitted through a very bandwidth-limited pipe.  Essential for simulating internet based micro cam display or personal video communication.

Artifact:  Developed to create digital defects, Artifact simulates lost DCT blocks and frame dropping, most often seen when a digital video file suffers from corruption or a satellite feed is hampered by weather.  Make sure you warn clients and your house engineer that it's only an effect...

Interference:  If it's television you want, traditionally you'll need some sort of interlaced field scanning.  Interference creates the look of interlaced video fields, even on progressive footage or still images, adding noise, colorization and offset separately for each field.

Skew:  The never-ending quest to aim the rabbit ears so that the television show looks as good once you're in your chair as it did when your hands were attached to the antenna is fast fading into the lore of old...   That valuable (if under-appreciated) look is preserved in Skew.  Uniquely analog/broadcast image badness like noise, image shearing, ghosts... it's all there.

Damage has a retail price of $99 and is available immediately from Digieffects and its resellers.

Digieffects Introduces Electronic Software Downloads and Slashes Prices
Creative Professionals May Now Purchase Class On Demand Training from Digieffects

San Francisco, CA - August 21, 2007

Digieffects, a developer of popular software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Autodesk Combustion is taking new steps to meet customer requests since the change of ownership in May 2007.

For the first time, Digieffects is now offering its products as electronic software downloads in addition to the standard box-copy versions. This new convenient way to purchase allows users the flexibility to buy at any time during their tight production schedules.

Digieffects has also drastically reduced the prices of many of its software plug-ins (see table below).  All customers that purchased a Digieffects product directly from the company or from one of its resellers in the past 30 days qualify for price protection in the form of a credit toward future Digieffects purchases.

Digieffects has also announced that they will shortly release a FREE compatibility update providing native Mac Intel Universal Binary support for Delirium, Aurorix, Berserk, Fantasm, and Euphoria.  This update will add full Adobe CS3 compatibility on the Mac (CS3 compatibility on Cinelook and all Windows products already exists).  Updates will also be offered for Buena plug-ins after this release.  Customers that place orders now automatically qualify for this FREE update.

Creative professionals looking to get the most out of Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Apple Final Cut Studio can now purchase Classroom on Demand’s video-based training DVDs directly from Digieffects.

“Since assuming management of Digieffects, we have reviewed all business practices and are taking measures to improve efficiency, better our products, and meet our customers’ top requests. We are pleased to make these first strides as we remain dedicated to delivering engineering updates later this summer,” said Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects.

Digieffects Acquires Buena Software from Toolfarm

San Francisco, CA - June 25, 2007

Digieffects LLC, a developer of popular software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Apple Final Cut Pro, announced today the purchase of Buena Software from Toolfarm, further adding to its arsenal of tools for creative professionals.

The Buena Software plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Pro were developed as effective processing tools to pick up on what the prominent software manufacturers overlooked. The plug-ins range from creative image processing and color manipulation to 3D depth effects:

  • Au Naturel (SRP $149): work on your footage in a 32-bit per channel floating point linear RGB color space for more natural looking results when compositing, blurring, or correcting your footage
  • Depth Cue (SRP $199): adds realistic depth effects to 3D layers
  • Swatch Buckler (SRP $49): adds a floating color palette to After Effects' user interface
  • Effect Essentials (SRP $249): 10 video effect plug-ins providing essential tools for productivity and creativity

As part of this acquisition, Digieffects will streamline the product line-up and offer new, lower prices effective immediately. The new lineup is as follows:

  • Effect Essentials and Au Naturel will be combined into one package called the Buena Effects Pack. The suggested retail price of this new package is $199 (formerly $249 and $149 respectively).
  • Depth Cue will remain a standalone plug-in with the same suggested retail price of $199.  Depth Cue users can also download, for FREE, OpenEXR, a plug-in developed by Industrial Light & Magic.  OpenEXR reads depth and other channels from an EXR into After Effects and Depth Cue and is a valuable tool for Digieffects customers.
  • Swatch Buckler is now available as a free download from www.digieffects.com (formerly $49).

“Buena’s tools are a perfect fit for our product line-up. Video editors and FX artists can create even more unique effects," said Robert Sharp, president of Digieffects. Sharp continued, “With this acquisition, Digieffects can expand on the needs and requests of our customers.”

About CineLook 2:
CineLook is popularly known as the software that “makes your video look like film.“ The new hand painted custom user interface gives the user all the control they need to create a unique or standard film look. “We’ve made CineLook 2 even easier to use by including hundreds of presets that allow the editor to quickly apply a film-look to their work.” notes Kendall Anders, creative director of Digieffects. “Our customers asked us to increase the rendering speed of CineLook, and we’ve done that with CineLook 2. It’s seriously faster. With the advent of dual-processors and CineLook 2, our customers will be very happy.”

CineLook 2 makes your video look like film 11 times faster than version 1 and is resolution independent - ready for hi-definition. Render times are even faster on Apple’s MacIntosh G5 computer with the Nvidia® graphics card. CineLook 2 incorporates FilmMotion™ seamlessly for 24 frames per second simulation in one step, eliminating the need to do a 3:2 Pulldown pass.

The CineLook 2 package has well over 100 presets and Film Stocks and allows the users to save their own. A gradient is built in to allow post-production addition of a filtered lens effect. CineLook 2 allows for color correction as well as StockMatchTM and ChromaMatchTM. Users now have a choice of color space for grain - HSV, RGB, CMYK and YUV Film Grain.

FilmDamage™ is part of the CineLook 2 package and allows the user to make modern video look like old damaged film with scratches, dust, hair, stains, gate weave and frame jitter. Digieffects Introduces Its Newest Set of Plug-Ins for Adobe After Effects to enhance creativity

Austin, Texas - October 11, 2004

Digieffects today announced Fantazm for After Effects Macintosh. Fantazm's collection of 36 plug-ins now puts DigiEffects total plug-in count at more than 140 and is the eighth product to be released. Fantazm for After Effects includes special effects tools like Color By Numbers as well as 20-plus Open GL 3-D effects that can be texture mapped and used for visuals as well as transition effects. Digieffects has had great success with titles like CineLook and Delirium. We have loyal customers of all of our products including Aurorix, Berserk and CineMotion. Every major television production facility in the country has multiple copies of Digieffects products. Digieffects has been around since the beginning of the "plug-in revolution" that started in 1996. Digieffects has supported all of its popular products throughout the various changes of After Effects and Mac and Windows operating system changes. We stand behind the claim that, We will offer free updates for the life of the product.

Fantazm is a set of plug-ins that encompasses many new technologies for the creative professional. Some of the anticipated Digieffects plugins are ColorByNumbers, BluePrint, Stream and Taffy. These effects are another subset of Digieffects creative tools that includes some highly advanced Open GL 3D texture mapping algorithms. Some of the effects include BrownianMotion, ColorGrabber, Disintegrate, FlyThru and the "Pixxy" plugins. These tools will allow users to create effects that were either incredibly hard or impossible to make with the tools that exist today. At the same time, each of the tools has a broad enough range of capabilities that the user will never need to have the same appearance twice.

Transition effects include Simonize, Stream, Shredder, Taffy, Stream, FlyThru and some of the Pixxy effects. PixxyAudio allows the controls of some of the Fantazm plugins to be manipulated by the audio track for automated "beat-matching". Taffy and Shredder allow images to be stretched and generate striping effects.

Here is a list of the Fantazm plugins: * Blown * Blueprint * BrownianMotion * ColorByNumbers * ColorGrabber * Disintegrate * Droplets * FlyThru * Raindrops * Ripples * Shredder * Simonize * Stream * Taffy * pixxyAudio * pixxyBallz * pixxyBoxes * pixxyCarousel * pixxyColors * pixxyCube * pixxyCyclone * pixxyCylz * pixxyExotic * pixxyFacets * pixxyKrustabi * pixxyMToob * pixxyPatterns * pixxyPlane * pixxyReel * pixxySwitch * pixxyToob * pixxyTopo * pixxyUnstripe * pixxyVortex * pixxyWaves * pixxyWheel

Fantazm for After Effects is as easy to use or as complicated as any creative professional could want. There is an on-line Help for each of the plugins as well as extensive presets for each plug-in. Randomizing produces even more effects with the Dice function.

Digieffects goal for Fantazm is that any user can get in and use any effect without having to know how it works. But the controls are still there. "They have tried to keep alive the myriad of controls that Digieffects has been known for, but make each plug-in have as much push-button utility as possible!" Bruce Bullis, Adobe.

Pricing and availability: Fantazm is now available for Macintosh OS X with a Windows version coming soon. Fantazm has a suggested retail price of $395 and will be available from most Adobe After Effects Value Added Resellers (VAR's) as well as directly from DigiEffects.
